The Baltimore Ravens simply need more from their starters in 2026. Sure, they’ve improved both their coaching staff and roster significantly, but the fact of the matter is, many of last year’s contributors came up short in helping push the team into the playoffs.
The offensive line was one of the frustrating elements of Baltimore’s 2025 roster. Everyone knew the unit could possibly struggle, but it was truly shocking how bad they were. The five starters up front must be better. That even includes those who did a good job last season.
Roger Rosengarten did pretty well in his second season as a pro, but clearly, he wants more. In an interview on The Lounge Podcast, Rosengarten spoke about wanting to reach an elite level.
"“Looking back on last season, and the improvements I had within pass, run, and the things that offensive linemen get scrutinized for…that is gonna build that foundational block to where I’m establishing myself as one of the elite right tackles in the game...When you talk tackles, I wanna be in that conversation.”"Roger Rosengarten on The Lounge Podcast
If he gets to that level, he could help reshape a disastrous line into one of the better groups in football.
Roger Rosengarten's development could bring massive boost to Baltimore Ravens' offensive line
Roger Rosengarten was among the least of Baltimore’s worries in 2025. He became one of the most consistent contributors and certainly grew closer to a star-caliber tackle. He finished with a 74.5 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus, including above-average marks in both pass and run blocking.
Still, Rosengarten certainly had his issues in the early going. His season debut against the Buffalo Bills was disastrous, and like many others, he struggled to build a rhythm through the first four weeks. If he can smooth out his consistency from Week 1 to Week 18, and hopefully the playoffs, he could certainly become a household name not only at right tackle, but when it comes to tackles in general.
And if that happens, the Ravens could have a very nasty offensive line on their hands. It’s already clear that they have what it takes to turn things around at that spot. They hired a tremendous coach in Dwayne Ledford, signed veteran John Simpson in free agency, and drafted Vega Ioane in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
That trio of additions will undoubtedly make a major impact, but they may also take some time to get adjusted to their new home. Perhaps the biggest shift on the offensive line could be a breakout from a mainstay on the line like Rosengarten.
If Rosengarten can cement himself at a higher status, Lamar Jackson will have two uber-talented tackles sealing off the edges. That should make for a much more comfortable year, after he took hit after hit in the last go around. Of course, that should also amplify Derrick Henry’s already absurd rushing production.
Overall, while Rosengarten has become an excellent right tackle, he could put himself into the elite tier in his third NFL season. The potential of that development could be one of the biggest improvements for the Ravens in 2026.
