The Baltimore Ravens have a long offseason ahead. They already had a stacked free agent class to negotiate with, but their decision to fire Head Coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday leaves a head coaching vacancy that quickly becomes the most significant area to address.

Let’s be honest, the Ravens needed to move on from Harbaugh. While it came as a bit of a shock, they need someone else to lead this team moving forward. While many are anticipating names like Los Angeles Chargers Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter and Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores to be prime candidates to land the job, a familiar face could be on his way back to Charm City.

On Wednesday, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported that Baltimore made a request to interview Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver. They also requested to meet with Seattle Seahawks Offensive Coordinator Klint Kubiak.

For Weaver, it’s a name very familiar to Ravens fans, as Weaver spent time in Baltimore as both a player and coach.

Ravens request interview with Anthony Weaver

The Ravens drafted Weaver in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft and spent four seasons there. After his playing career, he found his way back to the organization that drafted him, joining Baltimore as their defensive line coach in 2021. Then, from 2022 to 2023, he became their assistant head coach, as well.

Weaver was a prominent candidate for Baltimore’s defensive coordinator opening in the 2024 offseason, following Mike Macdonald’s departure to Seattle. Ultimately, the Ravens chose Zach Orr, and while he has flashed, it’s become clear that the team’s defense has struggled under his leadership.

Weaver’s Miami defense didn’t exactly excel in 2025. They ranked 22nd in yards allowed per game with 348.8 yards and 24th in points allowed per game with 24.9 points. Obviously, the Dolphins didn’t have a ton of talent on defense, though, specifically in the secondary.

This will potentially be Weaver’s third interview. He was already scheduled to meet with the Arizona Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons, and now Baltimore is slated to be added to that busy list.
