The Baltimore Ravens reloaded on defense this offseason. There’s a lot of fun new pieces surrounding the unit, and the hiring of Jesse Minter should have them looking lively in 2026.
It’s easy to look at the new-look unit and have most of your attention focused on the star talent and endless possibilities under the new coaching staff. Specifically, the defensive line looks night and day with additions like Trey Hendrickson and Zion Young joining the team this offseason. However, you can’t overlook the returning contributors at outside linebacker.
Sure, 2025 was a disappointing year, but a guy like Tavius Robinson will remain an important piece under Minter and Anthony Weaver. The 27-year-old is a versatile player, and through the early rumblings of training camp, he’s not letting coaches ignore that.
Recently, Robinson earned some high praise from Weaver.
“[Robinson’s] a stud. He can do so many things,” Weaver said. “His traits, his attitude, his body type- not everyone's built like that. He has a mindset where he doesn’t care where he’s rushing from…he just wants to be on the field, helping to contribute, and he’s gonna help us in a variety of ways.”

After what the Ravens did this offseason, Robinson may have been pushed down the depth chart a bit. Hendrickson is going to be their sure-fire sack artist off the edge, and Young, who actually brings a similar style of play to Robinson, was drafted in the second round—he’s going to demand reps. Still, Robinson can wear a lot of different hats.
The Ole Miss product isn’t a star player, and he’s not going to wow fans with his play on the field. What’s important, though, is how coaches feel about him. And based on Weaver’s comments, he’s the type of guy who does everything you could want from him and is going to impress coaches when he steps foot onto the field.
Robinson’s sack numbers are nothing crazy, but they’ve climbed slightly year after year, and he reached a career-high in 2025 with 4.5 sacks. Where he does his damage, though, is against the run. He can fill in pretty much anywhere along the defensive front, setting a firm edge consistently.
It may be fair to expect Robinson’s role to change at least in some capacity. Again, Baltimore completely shifted the landscape of their pass-rush room in free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft, and Mike Green seems ready to take a step in year two. Pair that with a coaching change, and it might seem like Robinson is trending toward becoming an afterthought.
However, despite never working under Minter before, Robinson did play under Weaver in 2023. It helps having him in the building after seeing almost the entirety of your old coaching staff walk out the door. That familiarity should build a little bit of confidence as Robinson gears up for his fourth season in the NFL.
