Aeneas Peebles hasn’t suited up over the last three weeks. He’s been stuck in healthy scratch purgatory. In the Baltimore Ravens’ Week 6 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, though, everything is falling into place for Peebles to hit the field.

On Friday, Jesse Minter ruled Broderick Washington out with an ankle injury. He’s been the go-to rotational guy over Peebles on game days. But with Washington out for at least one game, the Ravens must give Peebles his time in the spotlight.

The 25-year-old certainly has the potential to make it worth their while.

Aeneas Peebles could etch his name into the Baltimore Ravens’ rotation in Week 6

In a road divisional matchup, the name of the game is getting nasty in the trenches. With a home crowd like Cleveland’s, the offense can be cool, calm, and collected out of the gates. The front seven needs to disrupt Deshaun Watson’s rhythm, take the crowd out of the equation, and ensure the run game doesn’t get its motor running.

You want to put Deshaun Watson under duress in the pocket? Throw Aeneas Peebles in there as a rotational pass rusher.

Obviously, guys like Trey Hendrickson, Mike Green, and Nnamdi Madubuike can be lethal, and look for Hendrickson to have a big game. The Browns will have them circled in red, though. It’s the under-the-radar contributors like Peebles who can make timely plays — when all eyes are on other producers, favorable battles could fall Peebles’ way.

And if he draws one of those favorable matchups, he could deliver quickly. His 2 pressures and 1 QB hit over 18 snaps is a promising start to 2026, especially for an undersized interior defensive lineman.

I get it, that’s a miniscule snapshare, and you can’t make a judgement based on that. However, the man he’ll likely replace on Sunday in Broderick Washington, has been unproductive.

Which begs the question: Why was Peebles being benched for Washington in the first place? Peebles hasn’t excelled, but he’s flashed in his limited reps.

Washington, on the other hand, is doing next to nothing over his 108 snaps. So far in 2026, he’s posted 2 pressures and 0 QB hits. That’s less production than Peebles in 90 more snaps.

Washington’s just not creating many wins against the pass. Just take a look at the bottom left of this graph via Gridiron Grading.

That’s not where you want to be.

Of course, the concerns have always been about Peebles’ run-stopping. But he added weight this offseason, and proved in the preseason he can hold his own there. His relentless motor could make him an asset in that area, too.

Baltimore also possesses lots of interior depth, so deploying a pass-rush-focused option from the middle like Peebles could pay off.

Madubuike, Travis Jones, Calais Campbell, and John Jenkins can all be extremely effective against the run. It shouldn’t be that difficult to find chances for Peebles when obvious passing situations come around. Sure, it’s easier said than done, but Peebles’ ceiling as a pass rusher is way too good to keep ignoring.

Hopefully, the coaching staff comes around on him in Week 6. It’s Peebles’ best chance to end his healthy scratch trend. If he gets the opportunity and runs with it, it may be hard to keep him off the field moving forward.
