The Baltimore Ravens have gone through a defensive transformation this offseason. It all started with the hiring of Jesse Minter, who is set to bring his defensive genius back to Charm City, and it continued in free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft. The defense has been a focal point.

Most of the improvements have come on the defensive front. The team made a splash signing with Trey Hendrickson, but even after that, addressing the trenches has remained a constant. Most recently, the Ravens brought back Calais Campbell. It was a much-needed reunion.

Baltimore made the Campbell signing official on Wednesday. In his first message since he inked the deal, Campbell has already fired up Ravens fans.

Coming back with a vengeance… Yeah, that’ll get fans ready to run through a brick wall.

Baltimore Ravens get the last bit of firepower they need in Calais Campbell signing

From 2020 to 2022, Calais Campbell was a force in Baltimore. He was an integral part of the defensive line, tallying 10 sacks and 14 tackles for loss in those three years, while also earning a Pro Bowl nod along the way. Four years later, Campbell is still putting up those numbers.

He may be 39 years old, and he will turn 40 in 2026, but it’s widely expected that Campbell will start this upcoming season. Age doesn’t matter; he remains a talented player. In his three seasons since departing from the Ravens, he’s racked up 18 sacks and 31 tackles for loss. That production will certainly do.

Campbell rejoins forces with the likes of Nnamdi Madubuike and Travis Jones. Both of those guys are souped-up versions of themselves from 2022.

Madubuike is coming off a neck injury, and his status remains uncertain; however, there’s at least some sort of optimism. When healthy, he’s one of the best interior defenders in the NFL. If he can get back on the field, the entire defense should eat.

As for Jones, he’s grown significantly since the last time Campbell suited up in the purple and black. The UConn product had his best year in 2025, being a complete game-wrecker in the run game and posting a career-high five sacks.

There will also be more talent surrounding Campbell in the form of one of the best pass rushers in the league, in Trey Hendrickson, as well as exciting young edge defenders in Mike Green and Zion Young.

Overall, there’s plenty of reason that this stint in Charm City will end differently for Campbell. Preferably with a ring on his finger. With the influx of talent and an intriguing young coaching staff, the Ravens should have a very high ceiling. As Campbell said, this team is special.
