After being without him last week, the Baltimore Ravens listed Zay Flowers as questionable on their final injury report ahead of their Week 3 showdown with the Dallas Cowboys. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was a limited participant in Friday’s walkthrough.
In their loss to the New Orleans Saints, the Ravens’ passing attack lacked explosiveness. Outside of Rashod Bateman, the wide receiver room was fairly quiet. The team needs their $140 million man back more than anything.
The latest updates show some progress, but uncertainty remains around his status as we get closer to game time.
Zay Flowers is warming up on the field in Brazil
Zay Flowers was out on the field early in Brazil. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Flowers was said to look good in warmups. CBS’s Briana Aldridge also mentioned he was going through the full workout, was sprinting, and gave the trainers a thumbs-up as he left the field. The trainers looked happy with his work, too.

He also practiced a touchdown celebration should he score this afternoon.

This is obviously a promising sign for Flowers, who’s been dealing with this hamstring problem since training camp and re-aggravated it in Week 1. Still, Baltimore has yet to make a decision on his status.
It’s worth mentioning that with the concerning field conditions in Brazil, the team could be mulling the possibility of playing it safe with Flowers. For a player as shifty as him, hamstring injuries are one of the worst issues you can deal with, and the bumpy field could add another layer to their decision.
Baltimore Ravens’ WR room if Zay Flowers can’t play
If Flowers can’t play, it’ll be Rashod Bateman time once again. He proved he can take over that WR1 spot last week, putting up 7 receptions for 88 yards and a touchdown against the Saints. He’s a versatile piece who can win as a van Gough-like route artist and has plenty of speed to make big plays.
Baltimore will need someone else to step up, though. The rest of the room includes Devontez Walker, Chris Moore, LaJohntay Wester, and Elijah Sarratt. None of those guys tallied multiple receptions last week.
And even if Flowers can suit up, someone needs to take the pressure off him and Bateman. Sure, Mark Andrews has been that guy through two weeks, but if the offense wants to find the big plays, Walker, Moore, Wester, or Sarratt must make their presence known on a more consistent basis.
Ultimately, it’s fair to assume Flowers could be limited if the Ravens make him available. There are a lot of worries that come with playing a shifty wideout dealing with a lingering hamstring issue, and Brazil’s playing conditions only add to that.
For now, we’ll have to wait for Baltimore’s final say. It looks like Flowers is trending upward, though.
