The Baltimore Ravens are fortunate to have an abundance of weapons on the offensive and defensive sides of the football. There are plenty of options they can turn to when someone needs a breather, and that was put on full display in their Week 2 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Countless players made big plays on Sunday, and one of those was wide receiver Devontez Walker. The second-year wideout is buried on the depth chart, but was given enough reps to prove himself, and he did just that.
Walker caught two passes for 26 yards, and both went for touchdowns. They were not garbage time scores, either. Both came when Cleveland was still within striking distance, and Walker helped put the game out of reach.
The craziest part of it all is his career stat line. Walker has made three career receptions, and all three have gone for touchdowns. In Week 15 of the 2024 campaign against the New York Giants, Walker hauled one in from 21 yards out for a score. This past Sunday, he added a two-yard touchdown and another for 24 yards. All he does is catch touchdowns.

Jaw-dropping Devontez Walker stat suggests Ravens have found their next star receiver
It will obviously take Walker some time before carving out a consistent role in Baltimore’s offense. They have a strong receiving trio with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and DeAndre Hopkins, and even backup wideout Tylan Wallace got in on the action with two catches for 25 yards and a touchdown against the Browns. Still, his nose for the end zone is making him hard to ignore.
Of Baltimore’s wide receivers on Sunday, Walker saw the fourth-most snaps. He only saw five snaps in passing situations, though, which was fifth-most, but he proved he deserves more. He earned a 93.1 overall grade, per Pro Football Focus. That was second-best on the entire team, trailing just Hopkins. Moving forward, we could see more of Walker.
It will be tough to involve Walker more, but Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken knows how to get creative. It seems every time Walker touches the football, it turns into points, and with his ability to stretch the field, he should have an increased role in the offense heading into Week 3 against the Detroit Lions.
Detroit is one of the highest-scoring teams in the NFL in recent years, so Walker could prove to be crucial in that matchup.
