It was clear from the day he was hired that Jesse Minter would be a different head coach than John Harbaugh. And while we are still months away from Minter's first game, his comments to the media continue to reinforce just how different the Minter-era will be.

Most recently, at the Baltimore Ravens' rookie minicamp, Minter spoke about the importance of communication, especially on defense.

"You can't play this game quiet and you can't play this game with doubt, and you can't play this game without knowing what you're doing. From a defensive standpoint, we should be the loudest, most crazy, obnoxious communicating unit in the history of football... The whole idea is that when you do it over and over again, you do it here, you do it every play, it doesn't matter if it's the first play of the season, a game in December, or a game in February. That's the standard of how we operate, and we lead ourselves to success," Minter said.

It's primed to be a whole new ball game for the Baltimore Ravens under Jesse Minter

Whether this was meant to be a direct shot at Harbaugh is up for debate. Nevertheless, there's no denying that Minter is setting a different standard in every possible way.

The Ravens' defense was awful last year. They weren't aggressive, the communication looked lackluster, and the schematics were questionable. The Ravens ranked 30th in sacks, 24th in total yards, and 30th in passing yards, which underscores their subpar defense.

All in all, this led to a disconnected 8-9 team with poor coaching written all over it.

Minter is a defensive guru who can bring a schematic and mentality overhaul. He is already building the groundwork for a great defense, and I can't wait to see it in action. Best believe the issues we saw from Harbaugh and Zach Orr last year will be cleaned up.

Having a true play-caller who is more directly involved in the team's success is a key reason that Minter is a clear upgrade over Harbaugh.

Minter's mention of February is also worth noting after Harbaugh clapped back at the idea that it was Super Bowl or bust for the Ravens last season.

It's clear that Minter's standard has been bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Baltimore. After so many years of coming up just short, this is the exact mentality the Ravens need.

By all accounts, the Ravens' culture and defense are set for massive postive changes under Minter.

Crucially, the Ravens also upgraded their defense this offseason. Trey Hendrickson gives them a bona fide elite pass rusher, Calais Campbell gives the Ravens a quality veteran, and Zion Young projects to be an immediate impact run stopper. This, paired with the likes of Kyle Hamilton, Mike Green, and Roquan Smith, gives Minter a ton of weapons to work with.

For the Ravens to achieve their Super Bowl aspirations, it's clear that their defense must surge, and Minter is the perfect man to help lead this transformation. Overall, the early signs of the Minter era are positive, and Ravens fans should be counting down the days until the season starts, as this could finally be Baltimore's year.
