The Baltimore Ravens got out to an early lead in their Week 13 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. The offense had struggled to find a rhythm in recent weeks, but their first drive on Thanksgiving night told the story of an offense ready to shake off the rust.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson completed his first pass of the night on an easy throw and catch to tight end Charlie Kolar. From there, they took off. The drive culminated with a 28-yard touchdown run by running back Derrick Henry, a staple of Baltimore’s offense these days.

Despite the success in their opening drive, Head Coach John Harbaugh made a change that fans have long been waiting to see. By the next drive, the Ravens’ offense took the field, and rookie offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. was the one lining up at left guard, not Andrew Vorhees.

Ravens give rookie offensive lineman a shot early in Week 13

Nearly the entire fanbase has been begging for an offensive line change since Week 1 of the 2025 season. Most fans have been begging for right guard Daniel Faalele to be benched, but instead, it was Vorhees who was benched in favor of the rookie.

It was not a pretty first drive for Jones. Not that he did anything wrong, but just three plays into his NFL career, Jackson lost the football on a strip sack, giving Cincinnati the football on the two-yard line. Thankfully, Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr’s defense would hold the Bengals to zero points.

Jones came back onto the field the following drive, and once again the offense floundered. Henry kicked things off with a rush for no gain. The next two plays were incompletions from Jackson, one of which should have been an easy completion for a first down, but he ultimately airmailed it over the head of wide receiver Zay Flowers.

After two stalled drives and a Bengals’ drive that resulted in three points to cut the lead to one, Vorhees took the field with the starting unit on the team’s fourth drive of the night.

It is unclear if Vorhees was dealing with an injury or if Harbaugh wanted to get Jones in the game early due to the offensive line’s constant struggles this year. However, it does mean that the rookie is finally ready to get in-game looks. He was active for his first career game in last week’s win over the New York Jets, and now, he is closing in on a real opportunity with the starting line.
