The Baltimore Ravens will be watching the New York Giants' season with great interest, as they can see if they were justified in moving off John Harbaugh after nearly two decades in charge and replacing him with Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

Harbaugh was connected to a few of his former Ravens assistants in Todd Monken as an offensive coordinator and Anthony Weaver as the defensive coordinator. However, Monken decided to become the head coach of the Cleveland Browns while Weaver returned to Baltimore. This led Harbaugh to an unusual place for his OC hire.

The Giants are going to hire former Chicago Bears head coach and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy to be their next offensive coordinator, which is not going to please a fanbase that saw him essentially get fired by Andy Reid after his team won just six games last year.

This comes after Harbaugh named Dennard Wilson, who struggled in two seasons DC of the Tennessee Titans, as his new defesive coordinator.

One of Harbaugh's biggest appealing traits, in theory, is putting together a dynamite staff. Considering how poor Nagy was during his final season in Kansas City and Wilson's milquetoast performance in Tennessee, his coaching staff outside of Baltimore is losing some luster.

Ex-Ravens coach John Harbaugh hires Matt Nagy as OC

Nagy had a winning record as head coach of the Chicago Bears, but that was mostly due to a tremendous defense. Mitch Trubisky never took the steps forward that many expected, and it became clear that his style of coaching was outdated.

Harbaugh thought that the guy who somehow made Patrick Mahomes look like a mortal was the best man for the job of getting the most out of Jaxson Dart, which seems unusual. Given how patient Harbaugh was with coaches like Greg Roman in Baltimore, Nagy might be there for a while.

Minter, meanwhile, brought Weaver back to Baltimore to be his defensive coordinator. Even though Minter will call plays, Weaver is a tremendous assistant. Hiring 29-year-old Declan Doyle to be the OC is a risk, but he did study at the foot of Ben Johnson, and he could supercharge the offense.

Harbaugh is likely going to be better than Brian Daboll was in New York, but it appears as though the Ravens are going to be a more complete team than the Giants heading into 2026. This adds more justification to the decision to pull the plug and reboot with a younger coach, as Harbaugh's first big Giants plan went up in smoke.
