The Baltimore Ravens fired Head Coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, stunning the rest of the NFL world. It was a reasonable move given that Baltimore has been unable to get over the hump over the past several years. After a gut-wrenching end to their 2025 campaign, Steve Bisciotti finally reached a breaking point and made the decision to move on.

Regardless of how Ravens fans currently feel about Harbaugh, he is still a good head coach. Sure, his message ran dry in Charm City, but he is the type of coach who can turn a team around and build a culture of winning.

He has a Hall of Fame resume, which includes one Super Bowl win and 12 playoff appearances. Obviously, teams with a head coaching vacancy or one on the hot seat are going to be interested in that. However, it was stunning that it took absolutely no time at all for Harbaugh’s phone to be flooded with interest.

Per ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Harbaugh’s agent, Bryan Harlan, received calls from seven NFL teams just 45 minutes after Harbaugh was fired. At the moment, there were six head coaching openings, not including Baltimore’s.

John Harbaugh already set up for new job after firing

There was obviously a level of risk in firing Harbaugh. Despite his recent lack of playoff success, he consistently had his teams near the top of the league. That’s not easy. It was a move that had to be made, though, and while the Ravens search for his replacement, Harbaugh is already set up nicely for a new coaching gig.

It sounds like every team under the sun that will or could bring in a new head coach this offseason is interested in Harbaugh’s services. One of those includes the New York Giants, who appear to be the most aggressive team going after the 18-year head coach.

Recent reports from Josina Anderson have also signaled that the Miami Dolphins, who currently employ Mike McDaniel, are in contact with Harbaugh. In that case, Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken could follow him to continue calling Harbaugh’s offense.

While it could come back to bite them, the Ravens needed a new voice in the building to run the show. Harbaugh may remain a top head coach wherever he ends up landing, but both he and Baltimore needed a change of scenery.
