Zay Flowers has been a popular topic of discussion amongst Baltimore Ravens fans this offseason, because the wide receiver is now eligible for an extension. With two years left on his rookie deal, and the big numbers receivers are being paid now, Ravens fans have started to debate how much Flowers should be paid, which centers around how fans feel about his status as a No. 1 receiver.
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has his own contract situation that he’s navigating, was recently asked those questions about his value to the team and if he’s a true No. 1. Jackson was visibly baffled that these questions were even being asked, but he offered the kind of endorsement for Flowers that Baltimore’s front office will have to take into account.
When Jackson was asked what is Flowers’ value to the team, the quarterback expressed that he didn’t want to say it was a bad question, but told the media everyone knows what Flowers’ value is to the team, before saying Baltimore needs him, and that he’s one of the best receivers in the league.

Jackson was also asked what would he say about the debate over whether Flowers is a true No. 1 receiver or not. The veteran quarterback physically expressed his exhaustion on the topic, before simply saying, “Zay Flowers is a 1,000 yard receiver, an NFL receiver for a reason. I’m gonna leave it at that.”
While some Ravens fans may resist Jackson’s message, everyone needs to accept that this is how Baltimore views the receiver, and he’s going to get the kind of payday that reflects that.
Flowers has been the team’s top wideout since being drafted in 2023. As a rookie, he caught 77 passes for 858 yards and five touchdowns. In year two, those numbers improved to 74 catches for 1,059 yards and four touchdowns, and they jumped again in 2025 to 86 receptions for 1,211 yards and five touchdowns.
The receiver is consistently productive and only getting better. If Ravens step back and look at how much receivers are getting throughout the NFL, they’ll realize that it’s only right that Flowers is next.
