As a Baltimore Ravens fan, there is nothing more annoying than teams helping Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for no reason.
News broke early afternoon Monday, October 28, that the New England Patriots were sending outside linebacker Josh Uche to the Chiefs for a sixth-round pick. The trade followed another trade in which the Chiefs acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans for a fifth-round pick.
At this point, the Chiefs are flat-out committing highway robbery. While Uche hasn't faired exceptionally well this season in New England, the last time he had a healthy dynamic pass-rushing partner, he finished the season with 11.5 sacks.
Time will tell what playing alongside Chris Jones and George Karlaftis will do.
New England Patriots trade Josh Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs
The rich get richer. Kansas City has pulled off another baffling trade with yet another AFC rival. It's almost as if the Titans and Patriots don't realize who they're helping. Patriots OLB Josh Uche will now be a Chief as reported by Ian Rappoport.
Trading away Uche isn't remotely surprising. The team left him as a healthy scratch in their game against the New York Jets, signaling he could be on the move. What is surprising, is the team the Patriots traded him to.
So thank you, Patriots, you just made the Ravens' road to a Super Bowl a lot tougher for a 2026 sixth-round pick - congrats.
Uche, despite a rough start to this season, still has the potential to be a game-changer on defense, especially when paired with Chris Jones and George Karlaftis. The Ravens already had to contend with Kansas City’s explosive offense with Hopkins, and now they’ll face an even stronger pass rush in a potential playoff showdown.
It’s the kind of move that complicates Baltimore’s path to the top of the AFC, adding another layer of pressure for Lamar Jackson and the team. From the Ravens' perspective, this trade feels like a frustrating misstep by New England.
Instead of sending Uche to a different team or keeping him for a 2025 draft pick, the Patriots handed him to one of Baltimore’s biggest rivals for minimal compensation - a 2026 sixth-round pick.
All eyes will be on how the Ravens respond to the most recent trade news. Baltimore desperately needs help if it wants to compete with Mahomes and the Chiefs.
