Thanks for the ammo!

The Baltimore Ravens have a massive showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week with first place in the AFC North on the line. Both teams are coming off blowout losses with the Ravens dropping a home game on Thanksgiving to the Bengals and the Steelers also losing at home but to the Bills.

Needless to say, everyone is being mature ahead of this crucial matchup. Okay, no they're not. Andrew Fillipponi, the co-host of Poni and Mueller on 93.7 The Fan, a radio station in Pittsburgh, had a lot of fun talking smack about Lamar Jackson during the Ravens' Thanksgiving loss. Fillipponi tweeted about how Jackson is "at the very least a little overrated" and Jackson clapped back with his own tweet, saying "Sayless" followed by a rolling on the floor laughing emoji.

One might have thought that'd be the end of it but nope - Fillipponi continued to double down on his take and, in doing so, gave Jackson and the Ravens plenty of ammo ahead of Week 14's divisional showdown. The radio host posted a screenshot of Jackson's reply and then responded with, "UPDATE: Lamar Jackson is down BAD. He’s responding to very fair tweets by me criticizing his awful play. He tells me to sayless. Hey Lamar how about you playbetter. I’m living rent free in the struggling MVP’s heard. This is great news for Steelers."

Lamar Jackson has much-needed ammo vs. Steelers in Week 14

Why anyone would want to poke a player of Jackson's caliber ahead of a huge showdown against your team, who is down bad by the way, is beyond me but that's what Fillipponi has decided to do. To his credit, he's not backing down but this feels like it's destined to backfire on the radio host.

The Ravens had been playing tremendously before that Thanksgiving blowout loss to Cincinnati and the hope is that they can get back on track this weekend against their arch nemesis. Fillipponi's trash talking should help motivate Jackson and the Ravens even more and if the Ravens win this game, no one would be surprised to see Fillipponi completely scrub his social media.
