Baltimore Ravens 30 Pre-Draft Visits: Zay Flowers
While the Baltimore Ravens will not draft every player from their pre-draft 30-visit list, the list is interesting to look at because it does show what type of players the team is looking into. They want to dissect all of the top wide receivers in the 2023 NFL draft and to get a firm understanding of how he stacks up against his peers. So, they used one of their top 30 visits to meet with Zay Flowers.
Baltimore Ravens bring in Zay Flowers for a pre-draft visit
Zay Flowers is a player that we highlighted earlier this offseason as a possibility for the Baltimore Ravens. He also is mocked to the Ravens more than most, so it does make sense that he will be a player that they have eyes on.
As a prospect, the potential upside NFL comparison may be Tyler Lockett. Zay Flowers is a shorter wide receiver, but he is dynamic with the ball in his hands. He does a good job of tracking the ball in the air down the field. While he does not have the greatest catch radius due to his size, he does have a good ability to catch the football away from his body. Zay Flowers has a wide route tree, but he is still not a perfect route runner. He relies too much on his wiggle and improvisation to get open, and that does not fly as much in the NFL.
For the Ravens, it would be a good fit. With Rashad Bateman and Nelson Agholor essentially being deep threats, the team could use Zay Flowers in the quick game and get the ball in his hands.
As the season goes on, and Zay Flowers matures, the team could use him in all areas of the field. A lot of Baltimore Ravens fans will be turned off by Flowers after Hollywood Brown did not live up to expectations. Brown is another small wide out who dominated college but struggled in the NFL.
While Brown is faster than Flowers, Flowers plays with more control and is a more physical wideout, both catching the football and working with the ball in his hands.
If the Baltimore Ravens want to draft Zay Flowers, they will have to do this round one.
