Baltimore Ravens must acquire this cornerback trade candidate
As we get closer to all NFL teams cutting their roster from 90 to 53, you will start to see some trades of players who are right on the roster bubble. Getting something back for a player makes it much easier to part ways than just flat-out releasing. With that in mind, there is a rumor going around that Bradley Roby is on the tradeblock. If that is the case, the Baltimore Ravens have to be a team that Is calling.
Will Baltimore Ravens trade for Bradley Roby
For Roby, it is less about him being cut, and more about the Saints wanting to take advantage of their depth. The report notes that the return for Roby has to be worth it.
That is because the New Orleans Saints have Marshon Lattimore, Paulson Adebo, and Alontae Taylor. We speculated that the Saints may move off of Adebo at the right price because of this influx of depth, but now it appears to be Roby. This may be even better for the Ravens, and Roby may be the best fit.
Roby has played 1,506 snaps in the slot. He does have 4,061 snaps on the outside, but last season he played 306 snaps in the slot compared to 264 on the outside. That slot presence is so valuable in Baltimore right now.
They already moved Kyle Hamilton out of the slot with the Chuck Clark trade. Then, they lost both Pepe Williams and Arthur Maulet to injuries, and we do not know the status of either. Ar'Darius Washington won the starting slot job, partly by default and partly because he played well in the preseason.
Still, the Ravens asked him to play a ton in the preseason because they are still not sure they can trust him at this point. Roby has years of experience and could get on the field quickly. He has had injury issues, but for now, he just needs to buy the Baltimore Ravens time until Marlon Humphrey comes back.
No team needs a slot cornerback as much as the Ravens and no team needs the depth as well. So, the question is, what can make this trade happen for both sides?
