No "Revenge Game" for Odell Beckham against former team LA Rams
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed some very heartwarming plans for the Week 14 game against the Los Angeles Rams as wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. will face his former team for the first time since he left LA with a Super Bowl under his belt.
A key member of the Rams' 2021 Super Bowl-winning team, OBJ will be designated as the Ravens captain on Sunday, thus participating in the coin toss against his former team at The Bank.
Beckham spoke to the media on Wednesday and you can start forgetting about this being the classic "Revenge Game" for OBJ, as he only had good words to share about the franchise he called home just a couple of years ago.
Beckham joked that facing the Rams in this weekend's matchup will be "just another game," although he later revealed there is still an active connection between him and his former teammates.
“Coop, Stafford, you know I still hit a little group chat and talk some trash to them this week," OBJ revealed, "and it’s just all love and respect.”
Sean McVay was already there when OBJ played for the Rams, and the wide receiver said that the coach "brought me back to loving football and understanding true professionalism and being prepared," per Clifton Brown of BaltimoreRavens.com.
"It was one of the best things that’s happened in my life," Beckham stated. "The way they looked at the film, dissected each play... I think McVay does an incredible job. We lost three games in a row and I watched him never waver."
Beckham added McVay "knows, for sure, I have nothing but the utmost love and respect for him."
The veteran joined the Rams during the 2021 season following his release from the Cleveland Browns. He went on to appear in eight regular season games with the Rams, helping them go 5–3 down the stretch to clinch a postseason berth.
OBJ ended up contributing to their Super Bowl LVI win in February 2022 before suffering a torn ACL injury in that game that left him on the shelves rehabbing for nearly a year and a half before suiting up for the Ravens this year.
This season, Beckham has caught 27 passes for 408 yards and two touchdowns with Baltimore after signing a one-year deal with the Ravens earlier this year.
