Ravens fans nearly had a meltdown at NFL insider's Lamar Jackson-related tweet
There's nothing quite like a jump scare on a Monday afternoon but that's what Baltimore Ravens fans experienced when Tom Pelissero sent out a tweet that said "Lamar Jackson has been waived/injured."
This would make anyone do a double-take because why on earth would the Ravens waive Jackson, who is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL? Well, if you keep reading Pelissero's tweet, he clarifies that this isn't the Ravens quarterback he's talking about but rather, the cornerback with the same name who was fighting a roster spot with the Carolina Panthers.
The Jackson Pelissero was talking about played college football at Nebraska and has bounced all over the NFL since entering the league in 2020. He's played for the Jets, Bears, Broncos, and Panthers, where he spent the 2023 season and appeared in one game.
The replies to Pelissero's tweet are pretty funny with most of the commenters giving him props for trying to scare the crap out of people early in the week. Ravens fans might not want to admit it but they likely saw that tweet and initially freaked out before then giving a huge sigh of relief when they saw it was the other Lamar Jackson who was being waived by his team.
No, the Baltimore Ravens aren't waiving Lamar Jackson.
If Jackson was being let go by the Ravens, that news would be everywhere because, no offense to the other Jackson but we all know which one is the better player. The Ravens quarterback has won two MVP awards and led his team to the postseason in all but two seasons since entering the league in 2018.
There was a lot of Jackson drama last year, however, when the two hadn't come to an agreement on an extension yet but fortunately, that's all behind us. Jackson and the Ravens agreed on a five-year deal worth $260 million and he showed right away that he's deserving of that money, helping lead the Ravens to their first AFC Championship appearance since the 2012 season.
While the Ravens ultimately lost that game to the eventual Super Bowl champion Chiefs, as long as Jackson is taking the snaps, Baltimore is going to be a Super Bowl contender.
