Updated Baltimore Ravens depth chart: Post 2023 NFL draft
Now that the 2023 NFL draft is over the Baltimore Ravens have their roster for the most part. This is a good chance to look at the depth chart before the summer starts and we forget about things until training camp.
What does the Baltimore Ravens running back depth chart look like now that the NFL draft has concluded?
Baltimore Ravens Running back depth chart
1. J.K. Dobbins
J.K Dobbins was eased in last season, and that was probably for the better. However, he started to come alive during the back end of the season, and he finished the season on a high note. Now that he has another offseason of full health the thought has to be that this will be the best season of his career. If not, the Ravens will be looking to replace him after this year.
2. Gus Edwards
Gus Edwards is in a similar boat to J.K. Dobbins. He took a bit longer than Dobbins to get back onto the field last season, and was active for just 10 games, including the playoff game. The thought is that Dobbins and Edwards will be healthy together for the first time in a while, and they can finally get the speed and power combination going.
3. Justice Hill
Justice Hill was signed to be the passing down back. He also plays multiple phases of special teams, and that may be what keeps him on the roster.
4. Keaton Mitchell
Because the Baltimore Ravens will keep a fullback, there is a chance that Keaton Mitchell does not make the team. However, if they keep five backs you have to expect the team to roll with Mitchell on the roster. The main reason Mitchell is likely to stay behind Justice Hill is his inexperience as a special teamer.
5. Owen Wright
Owen Wright is a shorter, stouter back. You could basically see the UDFAs as Mitchell being signed to add depth behind JK Dobbins, where Owen Wright is much closer to the mold of Gus Edwards. The Ravens had a pre-draft visit with Wright, so the interest is notable.
Fullback
1. Patrick Ricard
Patrick Ricard is valuable on the roster and will stick around.
2. Ben Mason
With Ricard having such a valued role you should expect Ben Mason to spend another year on the practice squad. it was always a little surprising when they drafted a depth full-back in the fifth round back in 2021.
