Ravens fans would be devastated if this Mark Andrews trade panned out

It'd be hard to see Mark Andrews in another uniform.

The Baltimore Ravens have not had the start to the year that they were hoping for. At 2-5, the team essentially has to be perfect down the stretch and not drop anymore games if they want a shot at claiming the AFC North title, which would be their third straight.

The 2-5 record could lead many to believe that the Ravens will be sellers ahead of next week's deadline and if that ends up being the case, tight end Mark Andrews is someone that would make sense for the team to trade. Andrews is in the final year of his contract, the Ravens have a successor waiting in the wings who has already played well in Isaiah Likely, and, again, the team is 2-5 after their first seven games.

Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report put together a list of bold predictions ahead of the trade deadline and had the Ravens trading Andrews to the Rams in that mix. This would be heartbreaking for Ravens fans because of what Andrews has accomplished with the team but, fortunately, it is listed as a bold prediction, meaning it could be looked at as a stretch. That being said, here's what Gagnon had to say about his bold prediction involving Andrews.

"It's a walk year for Andrews, and the Ravens might look to get something for the veteran now before committing long-term to the younger Isaiah Likely in the offseason. Meanwhile, the Rams could use another veteran weapon to support their top two receivers for a potential playoff run."

As for why this is considered a bold prediction, Gagnon said, "Baltimore would be giving up on a guy who scored 11 touchdowns last year, and Likely has come back slowly from a foot injury. It's a big risk."

If the Ravens don't feel as though they'll extend Andrews after this season and/or are comfortable moving forward with Likely as the TE1, then trading the former Oklahoma product makes sense. However, as Gagnon alluded to, Andrews is coming off an 11-touchdown season in 2024 and Likely is still dealing with an injury. This would indeed be a big risk for a team that still hopes to contend in 2025 despite their difficult start to the season.

It'd be incredibly difficult to see Andrews with another team and while this is ultimately a bold prediction, Ravens fans might have to prepare themselves for this scenario to play out. Hopefully, by season's end, Andrews is still a Raven and a long-term deal can get worked out to keep him in Baltimore for the rest of his career.
