When Lamar Jackson speaks, everyone in Baltimore listens. So when the superstar quarterback pleaded with Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta to sign veteran corner Jaire Alexander, it was only a matter of time before a deal got done. Sure enough, one day later, Alexander is officially a Raven.
Baltimore granted Jackson his wish, signing the veteran corner to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million. NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that the deal is only $4 million, with $2 million in incentives. That means this is an incredibly team-friendly deal for a two-time All-Pro, two-time Pro Bowl cornerback.

Jackson and Alexander played together in college at Louisville, and that’s why the two-time MVP was so determined to team up with him again. Now, the former Cardinals are reunited, but as Ravens this time.
Ravens sign cornerback Jaire Alexander to one-year deal
Beyond the sentimental reunion angle of two college teammates, this is actually a great football signing for Baltimore, because Alexander addresses one of the team’s biggest weaknesses from last season. Although the Ravens won 12 games in the 2024 season, and had a relatively good defense, they were abysmal against the pass. Baltimore’s defense allowed 244.1 passing yards a game, which was second worst in the NFL.
Jaire Alexander can significantly lower that number because he’s been one of the best corners in the league since being drafted by the Green Bay Packers back in 2018. For the Packers, he often provided shut-down defense, following opposing teams’ top receiver. The one issue with his game has been availability.
The veteran corner only played a combined 14 games over the last two seasons. Numerous injuries have kept him off the field throughout his seven-year career, and that’s why Green Bay was comfortable letting him go. Although Alexander is still one of the better corners in the league when on the field, the Packers couldn’t justify paying out his salary considering how much he’s been off the field in recent years.
Baltimore gets the talented corner for just $4 million, though, so it’s a low-risk signing with a possible high reward. If Jaire Alexander can stay healthy, the Ravens will have an elite corner added to a defense already loaded with quality players.
