The Baltimore Ravens’ training camp is already starting to get exciting. We haven’t seen the pads go on just yet, but whether it be hot starts for players like Lamar Jackson or long-awaited returns from injury like Nnamdi Madubuike, the buzz in Charm City is growing.
Each passing day has showcased encouraging signs not only for star players but also for those fighting for snaps this season. Among those is Keyon Martin, who, despite making the roster last year, is once again entrenched in a fight to make the team this year.
With the new coaching staff, it may be hard for depth players and primary special teamers from 2025 like Martin to carve out a role. However, it hasn’t taken him long to let his coaches know what he’s all about. He’s made an early impression that’ll make it hard to keep him off the roster.

Keyon Martin has had a strong summer, and he hasn’t let his foot off the gas at all at training camp. In an interview after Friday’s practice, defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver talked about what excites him about the 25-year-old, and it’s the type of praise that has Martin marked as a coach’s favorite.
“I love [Martin]. He’s out here; he just competes every day,” Weaver said. “He’s having fun, he’s energetic, you can feel the juice and the energy, and people feed off that. But he wants to rip your face off.”
Clearly, Martin is hitting the right notes. That’s the type of mentality that Baltimore’s defense needs, and that’s the type of mentality that’ll demand a roster spot.
You won’t need to convince fans that Martin should be in the cornerback rotation come time for the regular season. He was a preseason darling in 2025, and eventually became one of three undrafted free agents to make the team.
Throughout his rookie campaign, Martin had weeks where he saw meaningful reps on defense. The most consistency came on special teams, though, where Martin became a core contributor, regularly making an impact week to week. That experience may certainly boost his development and, in turn, his chances of growing his role in Baltimore.
Still, Martin faces a bit of a steep climb to win a spot in the corner room. After the team drafted Chandler Rivers, a hyped slot corner prospect, in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, there was a bit of a squeeze on Martin’s roster shot. You wouldn't draft someone in the fifth round just to cut him ahead of the regular season.
Between the defense's starting trio at corner, T.J. Tampa, and Chandler Rivers, that’s five guys pretty much already having locked up a position on the Ravens’ roster. Martin will be looking to claim one of the leftovers, and fortunately for him, he’s quickly put in a good name for himself.
As long as Martin keeps crushing it, he shouldn’t have much issue holding onto his job this coming season.
