The Baltimore Ravens have had a disappointing start to the 2025 season, holding a 1-5 record through the first six weeks of the season. Even so, the expectation was that the Ravens were going to buy at the Nov. 4 trade deadline, with a preference to improve their defense.

Their defense was hammered by injuries, but they still had a desperate need for pass rush help. On Monday morning, the Ravens and the rest of the NFL saw the Philadelphia Eagles acquire one of the top pass rushers on the trade block in Jaelan Phillips of the Miami Dolphins. Later in the day, the Ravens made a deal.

Reports indicate that the Ravens acquired Tennessee Titans edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones in exchange for a conditional fifth-round draft pick.

Jones may not be the flashiest name to be moved at this year's trade deadline, but he does offer what the defense and coordinator Zach Orr desperately need — consistency on the pass rush.

Ravens improve pass rush by acquiring Dre'Mont Jones from Titans

The Ravens' pass rush has been brutal through the first nine weeks of the season. Travis Jones generated the most pressures with 15, according to Pro Football Focus (subscription required). Jones is an interior lineman and mostly makes noise as a run defender. The edge rusher with the most pressures is Odafe Oweh with 12, but he currently plays for the Los Angeles Chargers after an early season trade.

Jones, in terms of generating pressures against the opposing quarterback, is the missing piece to the puzzle Orr needs. Jones was one of the few bright spots on a Titans team that looks destined to finish with one of the worst records in the NFL this season.

This season, Jones recorded 19 total tackles, which would be the second-most on the Ravens defensive front (Mike Green, 20). Interestingly enough, his best performance came this past Sunday against the Chargers. Jones recorded seven pressures, three quarterback hurries, and two sacks in the Titans' 27-20 loss to the Chargers, per PFF. That's a performance the Ravens defense has needed this season.

Sure, Jones may not be a big name like Phillips or Trey Hendrickson, but he brings the pass rush much needed consistency. The Ravens needed to get to the quarterback in the worst way. Jones' 4.5 sacks on the year are the most by any player on the Ravens roster. We don't need to remind you just how bad the pass rush has been.

We'll see if the Ravens are done making moves. They will have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Can general manager Eric DeCosta has another trade left in him, and if it's more help for Orr.
