There’s only three players that have been with the Baltimore Ravens longer than center Mike Flynn. Jonathan Ogden, Ray Lewis and Matt Stover. That should tell you what kind of career with the Ravens came to an end yesterday when the Ravens cut their starting center of the last seven seasons.
Flynn was a casualty of the annual salary cap campaign, and his $2 million salary for the upcoming season will make for $3.3 million in cap room for the franchise.
You hate to see a true team cornerstone go, but in an era of free agency and big payouts for superlative [...]

Ravens Release Center Mike Flynn
Brian Billick Speaks
For the first time since he was fired as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, Brian Billick broached the topic with local media earlier today, saying the he respected the decision of Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, but that it was a totally different message then he had been given earlier in the season.
On being fired: “It did change, and it changed in a day. Don’t know why. [I] haven’t had that conversation, and don’t know that I ever will. But I certainly respect that Steve Bisciotti has that right, and it did catch me off-guard because of what had [...]
We recently ran an excellent post on what the Baltimore Ravens should do with the eighth pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Obviously, QB names are being thrown around like a classic West Coast Offense drive down the field, along with cornerbacks and receivers.
But one position that hasn’t drawn considerable attention is that of defensive end. And one name that should be mentioned as a potential high pick is the University of Miami’s Calais Campbell.
Unlike most years, the Ravens will be drafting to fill immediate needs, rather than creating depth and future stock at critical positions. Defensive end is [...]
John Harbaugh on NFL Network
Like every other NFL Head Coach and talent evaluator in the league, John Harbaugh was in Indianapolis today checking out this year’s crop. NFL Network’s Steve Mariucci caught up with the newly appointed Raven’s Head Coach and had a chance to ask him a few questions about the quarterback situation in Baltimore in which he had this to say: “Well I think for us, we have three good quarterbacks…on our roster and they’re working hard, and they’re competing. I wouldn’t be shocked if our quarterback [for next season] comes from one of those three guys, and they’re fired up to do [...]
There’s only one good thing that comes out of a 5-11 season, and that’s a top draft pick. With the NFL Combine just two days away, it’s about time for Ozzie Newsome and company to start seriously considering which prospect will be the best fit in Baltimore.
This year the Raven’s have a variety of needs to address, the most obvious being the quarterback situation. Steve McNair is struggling through a shoulder injury, Kyle Boller still isn’t the answer, and though Troy Smith showed some promise late last season he probably isn’t the solution either. With that being the case, it’s [...]
This is the newest member of the Fan Sided Family: The SideLion Report. It’s run by Big Al, renowned operator of The Wayne Fontes Experience. It’s a funny blog, but is not safe for children, or Matt Millen.
On the days where Baltimore is not on fire for a quarterback, go check it out.
Good look to Dewey at Blogimore Ravens, who has the scoop on the Baltimore Ravens franchising linebacker Terrell Suggs. Seems like a good move to make eight million dollars for a season, but looks like he missed out on almost a million more for the team franchising him as a linebacker instead of a defensive end.
Turns out, Suggs could’ve made about $814,000 more on that bright red franchise tag if the team had classified him as a defensive end instead of a linebacker, as the average salaries of the highest paid linemen average out higher than the linebackers.
Suggs will appeal [...]
I don’t see why not; something good has to come from this season. They set the blueprint for how to beat the New England Patriots, and if anybody deserves some restitution for getting jobbed by cheaters, it should be the Baltimore Ravens.
Think about it. The Ravens played the inspired defense and steady passing game the ultimately propelled the New York Giants to Super Bowl victory. Considering that Bill Belichick and the Patriots have been in the cheating biz for the better part of eight years, there’s nothing proving the Pats didn’t have extensive footage on the Ebony Birds from years [...]
Steve McNair says that everyday of rehab for his shoulder brings him one step closer to coming back as the starting quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. Sure, he was a league leader in fumbles, interceptions and injuries through only seven games last season, but in his defense, a rotator cuff and a torn biceps in your non-throwing arm will do that to you.
McNair likens himself to old timers past and present like John Elway and Brett Favre as a measurement of how he will perform this upcoming season. Calling the change in coaches “surprising,” but citing the goodness in change, [...]
The Washington Redskins are all over it, but slowly, the Baltimore Ravens are being mentioned as a potential suitor in the “trade-for-Chad-Johnson” sweepstakes. Hosted by the Pro Bowler himself, Chad Johnson.
Lately, Johnson has been lobbying for other teams to express interest in trading for him. It began with a few bloggers picking up on Chad’s shopping spree, and continues with a new hat sported at the Pro Bowl.
The Trent Green idea didn’t really go over well with a lot of folks, but one thing this team needs is playmakers. Maybe not so much at receiver right away, but if Chad [...]
