Ravens’ Free Agency: Feb. 27

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

So yesterday, if you haven’t heard, former Ravens linebacker Bart Scott signed with the New York Jets.  He had good reason to sign there, with Rex Ryan as their new head coach.  This could be a huge boost for the Jets or it could be a huge bust for the Jets.  In the past, when players go to “New York’s 2nd Team,” especially linebackers, they don’t quite live up to expectations. Dominique Foxworth, a cornerback from Maryland, signed a contract with the Ravens for 4 years worth $27.2M and this could be the indicator that Samari Rolle is about to [...]

Any Interest?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Players released this week (or last) that in my opinion, the Ravens should look into signing: WR Laverneus Coles (NYJ) LB Derrick Brooks (TB) WR Joey Galloway (TB) Marvin Harrison, anybody? CB Dre Bly (DEN) WR Drew Bennet (STL) QB Trent Green (STL, possibly for backup depth)  DE Anthony Weaver (HOU, former Raven) OT Ephraim Salaam (HOU) LB Donnie Edwards (KC) S Mike Brown (CHI: Maybe he can play cornerback, would be expensive) WR David Patten (NO) Now I doubt the team will sign any of these players, they never really do, but these are just some ideas.

!WARNING! THIS IS A BIT OF A RANT.

Wow. This is getting so annoying.  So if you live in Baltimore or have an affinity for listening to radio shows online, you might know about the new sports station in Baltimore, 105.7 The Fan.  So it’s not that new, created in November, but still has a cool fresh feeling of something new.  I listen to a show called Playmakers, with Ken Weinman and Jeremy Conn, two great, hilarious hosts. I love their show and I look forward to listening to them every single night, but I HATE the callers.  Now don’t get me wrong, some of them I think [...]

Today at The ‘Bine

More combine stuff: Rey Malauga pulled up injured during the 40-yard dash.  The extent of the injury is not known yet. Aaron Curry, the draft’s top ranked linebacker, ran a 4.56 forty, the best time for linebackers.  Curry also led linebackers in the vertical jump. Moise Fokou, a defensive lineman from Maryland going into the draft as an OLB, ran a 4.76 forty, very fast for a 240 pound guy. Another good Terp performance in the 40, with Heyward-Bey leading this year’s combine, and Josh Wilson leading the combine two years ago on the defensive side. Pat White has put [...]

The Combine and Ravens FAs

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

There have been some intriguing Combine stories, of course Crabtree having the stress fracture, but some others.  Our hometown boy, Darius Heyward-Bey ran the fastest 40 time of the combine so far, running a 4.29, but that is pretty slow for him.   Mark Sanchez will throw, Matt Stafford will not. A 260-pound running back from Texas A+M ran a 4.4 forty Pat White ran a 4.5 forty, one of the fastest, if not the fastest ever for the QB position. Possible #1 pick Andre Smith, the tackle from Alabama, left the combine unannounced. Louis Vasquez, a guard from Texas [...]

Mike Preston is A Lacrosse Insider?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

So reading the small and mostly lame Baltimore Sun online yesterday from my dorm room, I saw an article about Lacrosse recruiting.  It was written by Mike Preston, was bad, and apparently he is a Lacrosse Insider.  First, he shouldn’t even be a football writer, and secondly, did the Sun have to lay off so many writers that the only guy that can write an article about Lecrosse is Mike Preston?  I’m a baseball player and feel ashamed of the sport of lacrosse.  I can’t imagine what a lacrosse player would feel like.

Ravens Want Pettigrew

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

According to an article in The Baltimore Sun, a publication I read online that apparently has only 3 sections now, the Ravens want Brandon Pettigrew, the stud tight end from Oklahoma State.  In my mock draft, I have Buffalo taking him at #11.  According to the article, written by Ken Murray, a very good writer, the Ravens want another 1st-round slip to occur.  You know, when the guy (ahem, ahem, Brady Quinn, Aaron Rodgers) who is projected in the top 10 on all the draft boards falls to the mid-20s, and a lucky team lciks their chops as the pick [...]

NEW FSB O’s BLOG

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

FanSided has started a new Orioles blog, the site is birdswatcher.com and it is one of many MLB blogs that FSB is starting.  The network is expanding rapidly, and they’ve even started to venture into the NHL.  Right now, not all of the sites have links on the main page, but there are many more. Being a good Baltimore sports fan, you should run over and leave a comment at the site.

Was It Really A Surprise?

AUTHOR: | IN: Ravens | COMMENTS: None Yet

Suggs now has been tagged the last 3 offseasons.  I get it, as the Ravens need to use the money for other FA’s, but this guy must be getting upset.  He has to sign the agreement, and honestly, it might be tough for him to do it.  A superstar continuously getting one-year deals and not alot of national recognition deserves better.  Julius Peppers will probably not sign it, and become an FA.  If Suggs follows his thinking, then, well.  Uh oh.
