After the earlier rumor of Andre Smith, today’s is of a less prominent name: Greg Toler. Ever heard of him? Toler played at St. Paul’s in Lawrenceville, Virginia, and picked off 14 passes in his career. Right now, he projects as somewhere from a 2nd round to 5th round pick, and possibly in the later rounds. Toler ran a 4.35 forty, and is 5′11″, 195 lbs.
As a small guy, Toler put up great numbers in his senior year: 51 tackles, 6 interceptions and deflected 19 passes. The tackles and deflections shocked me when I first saw them. Toler has worked [...]

Small School Cornerback Maybe?
Ravens and Andre Smith???
According to Ravens Gab and the news sources of Birmingham, Alabama, the Ravens like Andre Smith. In multiple mock drafts that I’ve participated in, where blogs from each team pick their player in a mock draft style, I’ve seen Andre Smith fall as far as #31. If he’s still there, I don’t see why the Ravens shouldn’t take him. He’s a great blocker, and has the raw talent to have been projected as #1 overall pick in many mock drafts.
Sorry I haven’t posted in what, 2 or 3 days? I got to write a 15-page paper on the causes [...]
Sam Koch Signs Tender
Best news of the offseason broke yesterday. The league’s best punter Sam Koch, arguably the league’s most talented and fastest athlete signed his tender with the team. This locks up the Koch-Meister for the 2009-10 season, and keeps him from signing with a team this offseason. The Ravens will continue to try and get a multi-year deal done. Oh wow, that title/headline is a bit odd.
When asked if his Steelers would win the AFC North again, head coach Mike Tomlin said no. He picked the classiest team in the land, the Baltimore Ravens as the division champs.
“You have to like Baltimore,” Tomlin said when asked for a prediction yesterday. “They won 11 games last year with a rookie head coach and a rookie quarterback. They have a good football team. They have a great defense, they have a quarterback who proved he’s their quarterback of the future, he’s a guy on the rise. You have to respect that.”
Whether this means that Tomlin is trying to [...]
Worst Man Drafted Tournament
In Fansided’s Worst Man Drafted tournament, (look here for an explanation) the two Ravens’ representatives are Kyle Boller and Travis Taylor. Seeing some other nominees, we’ve had very good drafts compared to some other teams. Boller might be anywhere from a 3-8 seed, and Taylor will probably be pretty low, maybe in the 12-16 range, just because he had a slightly successful career at some points. Remember to vote whenever this starts. Do we want to win? Who knows, just take your own strategy. Also, follow the twitter account, I’m putting stuff on there.
Later.
Update: The brackets are up. Go vote!
Twitter?
So for some reason, I just had the sudden urge to start a twitter account for the site. My user name is TheEbonyBird, add me if you desire. Gonna go tweet some if you’ll excuse me.
Steelers Opener vs Titans
Following up the last post, the Ravens asked not to play against Pittsburgh in the season opening Thursday night game. The news is that the Steelers are going to play the Titans in the opening game.
Also, in the NoLogoNeeded mock draft, I selected Kenny Britt, the Rutgers receiver, for the Ravens’ 1st round pick. Heyward-Bey and Harvin had already been picked and it seems almost inevitable that the team would want a receiver in the first round. I kind of went over-dramatic at the end, but if you want to read it, click here.
A Few Notes
So there are basically only 2 things to talk about today that have to do with the Ravens. One is Corey Ivy. He officialy signed with the Browns yesterday, one of many Ravens exiles to sign with the Cleveland Crap. Ivy joins Jamal Lewis, Gary Baxter, and many others who I can’t think of right now of being the former Ravens who couldn’t find any other team who wanted them and went to the Browns.
Second is the Ravens’ request to the NFL not to have a primetime game in Pittsburgh this season. The reason is undisclosed, but the 0-4 [...]
Damn Jets
Wow. The Jets are at it again. Rex Ryan continues his new reign as Jets head coach by signing the new former Raven available. Though it isn’t final or even close to concrete, it looks as if Samari Rolle will sign with the Jets, which would make him the 4th Raven of last year to sign with Ryan’s Jets. New York could be renamed “Baltimore North” if it really wants…
And how about Maryland? If you saw the Terps game today, you saw 7 minutes of incredible basketball and 33 of less than stellar play. Sure, this is a Ravens blog, [...]
Pace Meets With Ravens
Orlando Pace will meet with the Ravens tonight about a possible contract. NBC Sports first reported the news, and it hasn’t been denied. From what the reports sound like, Pace will meet with John Harbaugh, Steve Bisciotti and whoever else is going for a “man date.” Pace is 33 and was cut by the Rams after multiple injury-plagued seasons. The former #1 pick is still a great lineman and could be a huge help to the Ravens’ young offensive line, though with Pace, there comes alot of questions. Will he stay healthy? Will he ever return to his old form? [...]
