There’s a reason why Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome pegged depth as the team’s greatest need this past offseason.  Injuries are bound to happen, and the Ravens are trying to avoid the disaster that occurred along their secondary down the stretch in 2014.

Unfortunately, their bad luck continued as Matt Elam went down early in training camp and is set to miss the entire season.  Elam’s loss isn’t huge (he was one of the worst safeties in the NFL last season), but it is notable for depth purposes.

Other Ravens sitting out practice with various injuries now include Breshad Perriman, Elvis Dumervil, Tray Walker, Marlon Brown, Chris Greenwood, and Rashaan Melvin.

On the brighter side of things, a number of Ravens rookies and returning veterans really flashed over the weekend on the practice field.  Among them is 2014’s rookie sensation C.J. Mosley, who looks fully recovered from offseason wrist surgery.

Justin Tucker connected on a 64 yard field goal Monday night at M&T, while Matt Schaub continued to struggle with arm strength and poor decision making.

Several rookies have looked good recently, including sixth rounder Darren Waller, who beat safety Will Hill on a deep pass for a touchdown.  Tight end Maxx Williams finally made some nice grabs but also had a bad drop.

Buck Allen continued his strong play, scoring a touchdown off a screen pass and juking Albert McClellan out of his cleats.

Hope you enjoy today’s Ravens links roundup!
