We’re finally on the cusp of some real, actual, live football that counts.  Some teams are ready and chomping at the bit, while others still have a lot of work to do.  Unfortunately for both the Baltimore Ravens and the Atlanta Falcons, they seem to fall in the latter category at the moment.

But with this game destined to be a battle of the backups, it’s highly doubtful we’ll see the likes of Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan on the field Thursday night.  No, it’s going to be more of the Bryn Renner and T.J. Yates show, with a few rookies potentially seeing some valuable reps as well.

That by no means indicates that this game isn’t worth watching.  Both teams still have a lot of unsettled roster decisions to make ahead of final cuts.  Some players still have a lot to prove, and this might be their last opportunity to do so.

With a strong core group of players, the Ravens must finish sorting out their supporting cast, one that hasn’t looked too great the last two weeks.  Add their current injury conundrum to the mix, and there’s a lot left to be decided.

We’ll begin with one particularly important job that has yet to be decided – who will return punts and kicks for the Ravens this coming season?

Next: Who will be the kick/punt returner?
