Joe Flacco Must Spread the Ball Around
The Chargers have one of the better pass defenses in the NFL, ranking 6th in the league while only allowing 221.3 yards per game through the air. The cornerback duo of Brandon Flowers and Jason Vetrett have been one of the best in the league this season, ranking 4th and 9th respectively by Pro Football Focus.
With the Chargers’ dynamic duo likely taking on the Ravens’ dynamic duo of Steve and Torrey Smith, Flacco will be forced to look elsewhere quite a bit in this game. He will have to work through his progressions quickly and utilize some of his oft ignored options in the passing game, including Owen Daniels, who was largely invisible against the Saints (7 yards receiving).
