Las Vegas oddsmakers and bettors alike had to be getting a bit nervous last week as the Ravens failed to cover the spread against the Jaguars.  We speculated that the 13 point spread seemed like a bit much considering how feisty the Jaguars have been lately, and our prediction proved to be an accurate one.  The only thing we messed up was the final score, as the Ravens truly struggled to put up points.

This week, the Ravens travel to Houston to face the Texans as stout 5 1/2 point favorites.  That kind of prediction would have been borderline crazy had the Texans not lost two more quarterbacks to injury last Sunday.  Now they must roll out one of Case Keenum or Thad Lewis against a defense that ranks 3rd in sacks and 3rd against the run.  Good luck with that.

The Texans aren’t totally out of the playoff hunt, and they still have some talented players on both sides of the ball.  And obviously new head coach Bill O’Brian has them playing harder than they did under Gary Kubiak last season.  This won’t be an easy matchup by any means, but it is a game the Ravens should win.

Vegas did wise up a bit after last week, as the 41 1/2 point total is quite low.  Unless the Ravens rediscover their rushing attack this week, this game could wind up being a low scoring affair like last week’s.  The more I look at the facts, the more skeptical I become about the Texans’ ability to put points on the board, however.

Having said that, here are this week’s Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans odds.  What do you think about the predictions?
