So who will stick on the final roster?

The Ravens went into 2015 with only four corners on the final roster – Smith, Webb, Jackson, and Chykie Brown.  I don’t think they will make the same mistake this year.  Smith, Webb, and Walker are the likely locks here, and possibly Jackson if he can prove that he’s healthy and improving.  Jackson is also a strong special teamer, which helps his case.

Levine is moving back to safety and the Ravens will probably keep him around due to his versatility and solid play.  Even though he fell apart in the playoffs, Melvin showed enough to get a shot at a roster spot as well.  Jacobs is a wild card who needs to show improvement if he wants to stick on the active roster for game days.

It’s early, but I think the Ravens will keep five corners this year.  If I have to guess now, I would say that those five will be Webb, Smith, Jackson, Melvin, and Walker.  It’s a solid unit if everyone stays healthy and Jackson shows improvement this year, but it’s not one that will shock the world.

Having said that, the Ravens don’t really need them to.  If they can sustain their dominant run defense and prolific pass rush from last year, the secondary only needs to be solid for this team to compete for another Super Bowl title.
