When the Ravens traded former all-pro DT Haloti Ngata to the Lions for draft picks, they expected 2nd year player Timmy Jernigan to step up and fill Ngata’s role. However, Jernigan has not played since the preseason, and he has only been fully practicing since the beginning of this week.

Jernigan has had a couple of injuries already since coming into the league last year, but when he has played, he has shown immense explosiveness and talent.

If all goes well, Jernigan will be making his season debut this Sunday against an average Raiders OL. He has the ability to be a game-changing player, but if he cannot stay healthy, he provides nothing to the team.

Look for him to make an impact early, but beware of his injury history. If Jernigan can stay on the field, he will be a force to be reckoned with, but put a lot of emphasis on the word “if.”
