4. Tavon Young:

Young was drafted in the fourth round. He wasn’t even slotted as a sure thing at the nickel cornerback spot. The Ravens signed Jerraud Powers and Young was to compete with him for the job. Young ended up being the Ravens second best cornerback and one of the most consistent players on the team. I would say that Young exceeded expectations in a big way.

He had 53 tackles and two interceptions in his rookie campaign. Young has a ton of promise moving forward but he should move back to the nickel spot with the addition of Brandon Carr. This could be the best situation for Young. On the outside his small frame can be a problem. Over the slot receiver, his ability to jump routes and great cover skills are best suited.

Young had to earn his way onto the field. He had to prove himself as a rookie. The Ravens may have thought that Young was a pick they had to groom for the future. Instead they got a guy who can be a great asset right away.
