Maxx Williams showed a real spark vs the Miami Dolphins.

Maxx Williams already looks like he has healed from all of his past injuries.  He only had 2 receptions against the Miami Dolphins, but he showed a spark that the Ravens desperately need. His 40 yard reception was incredible. He showed that he could be a weapon in the passing game who could rack up yards after the catch.

With Dennis Pitta retiring due to injuries and Ben Watson coming off of an injury, this could be the season that Williams becomes Joe Flacco’s favorite target.  Williams and Nick Boyle were drafted in the same draft, but haven’t lived up to their potential.  With Boyle not being able to play much due to injuries and suspension.

I saw something from Williams that I hadn’t seen before, and that was speed.  He also looks leaner which is a good thing for his position.

Expect Williams to continue to get better each and every game because he’s finally healthy. Last season, he played in 4 games but had zero receptions before landing on injured reserve. Hopefully, he’s over the injury bug and can make an impact on this Baltimore Ravens offense.

It’s a good thing that the Ravens have multiple options at tight end with Ben Watson also vying for the starting Position.  It could make Williams and Watson a deadly one-two punch in the red zone if both are playing at the same time.

I for one am rooting for Williams to have a monster year because he’s dealt with so much in his short career with the Ravens.  Staying healthy is one of the major keys for Williams to having a great year. It would be nice for the Ravens to get the most out of their 2nd round pick. It’s always better later, than never seeing it at all.

The more playing time Williams gets, the more spark we will see out of the tight end position.  With that, it will open up the offense for everyone else. It’s important to remember that nothing is locked up at the tight end position. Boyle, Watson and even Larry Donnell have a chance to factor into the tight end group. With a strong performance in preseason game No. 3, Williams could take the top spot.
