4. Terrance West:

Alex Collins is the Ravens most explosive running back. Buck Allen is the Ravens second best running back. Terrance West is the Ravens most frustrating back. Like many Ravens fans I allowed myself to believe in Terrance West. West was a Towson walk on who ended up being a third round draft pick. When he finally got to Baltimore, after a couple of stops in Cleveland and Tennessee, it was exciting. This was West’s chance, it was where he wanted to be. He showed flashes, but I’m tired of waiting for his talent to lead to results.

More from Ebony Bird

West has 37 rushing attempts for 121 yards on the season. He does have two touchdowns more than any other Ravens’ back but it’s hard to care when he averages 3.3 yards per carry. West had an awful fumble in London, on a play that could have been a huge gain. West has the running style of a man with cement in his cleats.

Terrance West is just wasting carries:

Number 28 is frustrating because he never reached his full potential. West is a running back with a good feel for the game and good vision. He simply lacks the ability to be great. West isn’t an overly quick or fast runner. He isn’t overly powerful. He is average, and when you cram him behind this offensive line it just doesn’t work.

The most frustrating thing is that Collins is averaging 8.2 yards per carry and he has gotten less work than the other running backs. Collins is so obviously a spark plug. Yes he has a fumbling problem. I get it, and it drives me nuts as well. The problem is that Collins is the only explosive runner the Ravens have. Allen is shifty enough where it can work behind this offensive line, but the Ravens need more acceleration out of the backfield. Get West out of the game, Mr. Harbaugh. You’re just going to have to ride with Collins, whether you’re comfortable with it or not.
