Baltimore Ravens focus on offense in 4 round mock draft
By Cory Hughes
Round three, pick 101, Mike Gesicki, Tight End, Penn State.
With Dennis Pitta never coming back to football due to injuries. Benjamin Watson being 37 and is scheduled to be a free agent on March 14th. Darren Waller coming off a year long suspension and Maxx Williams being just as big of a disappointment as Breshad Perriman has been. tight end being a need has crept up on Ozzie Newsome and Eric Decosta quick to say the least. Flacco having a big play tight end he can count on might be just as important as having a Receiver. Maybe even higher on the list.
Gesicki could very well be one of the more explosive and dynamic athletes in this draft class. Never mind just his position. Being a McDonald’s All American in high school, dunking all over YouTube, his leaping athletic ability will be something head coaches and defensive coordinators are going to despise going up against.
Looking at Gesicki’s tapes and highlights, you can definitely see match up nightmares. Nightmares Travis Kelce and Rob Gronkowski also possess. Like them, he’s to athletic and fast for linebackers and he’s too big and physical for most Defensive Backs. Drafting a big physical Tight End that can force double coverage on a consistent basis is something that’ll benefit this passing game. A passing game that was ranked 29th in 2017.
