31. Sam Darnold, QB, USC Eli Manning is aging and also regressing fast. Last year was probably his worst season of his career and the Giants even made a move to start Geno Smith during the season. It wasn’t received well by many people, but I agreed with it. You had to see what you had behind him, and they did. It wasn’t particularly good, which is why they go with a QB here. Darnold bursted onto the scene in 2016 with a fabulous season that helped the Trojans reel off 10 straight wins, including a terrific performance against Penn State in the Rose Bowl. Darnold is really athletic, and has a really good arm. He is a proven leader on the field and a smart player. Drafting a QB here doesn’t mean he’s the starter for the Giants this coming year. He can learn under Eli Manning for a year, and who better to learn under than a two-time Super Bowl winner. Darnold will be ready for his chance when it comes the year after.. Quarterback. USC.
