Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback situation is as messy as they come. For starters, Bruce Arians has recently been hired to be the Buccaneers new Head Coach. Arians has shown a comfort in starting veteran quarterbacks, and has two who played big roles for the team in 2018: Ryan Fitzpatrick, who is a soon to be an unrestricted free agent, and Jameis Winston, who hasn’t lived up to his no.1 overall pick billing since 2015.

The Buccaneers will have a top five pick in the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft, which will give them a chance to add some elite talent, but the team has to be wondering if they’re a quarterback away from winning. Is Jameis Winston the answer, or should the team look to draft someone new? And if they do, can a rookie get them back into the playoffs? These are hard questions the team has to ask itself this off-season. But should they decide to compete now, Joe Flacco is a perfect answer.

The NFC South is competitive from top to bottom. The New Orleans Saints could be Super Bowl bound, but if Drew Brees retires what will happen to this team? The Atlanta Falcons are incredible, but just had injuries derail them, and the Carolina Panthers collapsed after a hot-start to 2018. With a new quarterback such as Joe Flacco, Tampa Bay may be closer to these teams than we realize.

The Buccaneers need to add someone at running back, and it just so happens that Le’Veon Bell is a free agent who the team could afford to sign. Even if they don’t, the team has a solid defense and an elite wide receiver in Mike Evans who can crush defenses by himself.

Joe Flacco can help Tampa Bay compete right now, but the team is also perhaps a step-or-two behind the rest of the NFC. If anything, Flacco would be the perfect bridge quarterback for whoever is next in line for the team, whether he be drafted in 2019 or 2020.
