2. Avoid being one dimensional but get Todd Gurley heavily involved:

More from Ebony Bird

Todd Gurley is very important to the Rams chances. The Rams know this. The Patriots know it and you know it too. It’s not just good enough for the Rams to lean on Gurley, they need to do it in a way where they don’t get one-dimensional. They can’t just go into this game thinking they can just ground and pound their way to victory. They also can’t get pass happy and forget about Gurley and even C.J. Anderson. They have to stick with what got them here and that’s having a versatile offense that can do it all. Gurley needs to be the star of the show in the run game and the passing game for the Rams to roll past the Patriots.

Gurley was bottled up against the Saints and the Rams scraped by with the thinnest of margins. The Rams are a different team when Gurley goes off. The Rams had six games in which Gurley ran for 100 yards or more and they won all of them. In the Rams three losses, Gurley was held to 68 yards, 28 yards and 48 yards respectively. Gurley had five games this season where he had over 40 receiving yards. The Rams won all but one of those games. Against the Packers, Gurley had 114 rushing yards and 81 receiving yards. That’s the kind of impact he can have on the game.

The Rams have to come out of the gates completely unpredictable. That’s because if the Rams run game gets shut down early, and McVay goes away from it, that would be big for the Patriots. It’s not about forcing Gurley’s production. It’s about letting your best play-maker naturally fit into the offense and make plays when his number is called.
