As we near the end of our Baltimore Ravens Fantasy Football profiles, we take a look at the team’s defense and special teams as a whole.

If there’s one thing consistent when it comes to Fantasy Football, it’s that the Baltimore Ravens will always have a quality defense and Justin Tucker as elite options as starters. 2019 will be no different for both Justin Tucker’s Fantasy football value and the defense and special teams.

More from Ravens Fantasy Football

Right now, the only blemish to the Ravens defense is in their pass rush. The unit is in dire need of help after losing Terrell Suggs and Za’Darius Smith this off-season. Matt Judon remains in Baltimore, but after him it’s a bleak outlook.

Sure, there’s potential for players like Tim Williams, but they’ve proven nothing. All eyes are on rookie Jaylon Ferguson to produce as a rookie, where he could have a special season in store for us.

Unfortunately, sacks a massive part of what makes defenses valuable in Fantasy Football. Thankfully, turnovers are also a big deal, and the 2019 Ravens could have the most in the league.

New addition Earl Thomas will pay his dividends immediately by leading the league in interceptions. His presence alone will help the rest of the secondary rack up picks as well. It wouldn’t be a shock to see all of Baltimore’s cornerbacks finish with career-highs in interceptions.

Of course, with turnovers come opportunities for touchdowns. Guys like Thomas and Tavon Young have shown a prowess for collecting touchdowns when given the opportunity, and it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising to see them do it once again in 2019.

Interceptions won’t be the Ravens only method of creating turnovers, either. Fumbles will come aplenty, as the defense retains big-hitters throughout the defense. Strip-sacks and bone-crushing blows will give Baltimore even more opportunities to score.

Finally, Justin Tucker isn’t the only elite special teamed the Ravens have. Cyrus Jones showed remarkable ability is a return man in 2018. He is undoubtedly the most talented returner Baltimore has had since the days of Jacoby Jones. Should Cyrus Jones clean up his fumbling issues, he has a clear path to stardom.

This Baltimore Ravens defense may not be the sack producing monstrosity we’ve seen in the past, but don’t be surprised when they lead the league in turnovers. You may feel safer getting a defense like the Chicago Bears, but the Ravens D/ST once again could be an elite option and finish as a top-3 or better unit in 2019.

Final projection: 19.4 PPG, 36 sacks, 10 fumble recoveries, 20 interceptions, 3 defensive touchdowns, 1 special teams touchdown
