Patrick Onwuasor:

Potential replacements:

Patrick Onwuasor was supposed to have a career-best year in 2019 but he fell short of our expectations. Now, Onwuasor is no lock to return for 2020 and beyond. The Baltimore Ravens could, and likely will, let him walk and get paid top dollar elsewhere. Unfortunately, they don’t have a very good succession plan in place if they do lose him.

Baltimore’s linebacking corps is thinner than it’s ever been before, with L.J. Fort being the only reliable player coming back for 2020. Fort is fine as a veteran player and depth guy, but relying on him to captain the middle of the defense is a huge liability. The Ravens must add someone to play alongside Fort for 2020.

Joe Schobert is the most common name affiliated with Baltimore when it comes to linebackers in Free Agency, but Jamie Collins is far more intriguing to me. Collins is incredibly versatile and can play a variety of positions for your defense and he rushes the passer as well as he can drop into coverage. Collins is like Onwuasor, but better.

When it comes to the 2020 NFL Draft class, there are two names that stand out amongst the rest: Kenneth Murray and Patrick Queen. Both linebackers are having excellent draft processes and could be off the board by the time Baltimore picks at 28th overall, but if by some miracle one or both of them are available the Ravens should go for Murray. Murray is a seamless fit for this defense and a massive improvement over anything they have on the roster currently. Murray has to be a dream fit for the Baltimore Ravens in round one.
