Marquise Brown was on a hot streak to end the 2020 season and head into the post-season and his streak continues after carving up the Tennessee Titans.

“What’s the point of having souljas when you never use them (never!!)”

Those are the famous words of one Marquise Brown following a two target putting against the Pittsburgh Steelers back in early November. The tweet was quickly deleted but not fast enough, as screenshots were taken and the football world was astonished by the subtweet to the Baltimore Ravens usage of the second-year receiver. Many were taken off guard by the seemingly uncharacteristic comments and Ravens Flock was up in arms about it, taking the tweet a little personally.

It didn’t help his case that Brown proceeded to struggle over the next three weeks, notching just five receptions on 15 targets for 52-yards, including being blanked against the Tennessee Titans. Things were not looking good for Brown and many were figuratively calling for his head. More literally, these people were demanding his nickname, “Hollywood”, to be revoked, and rightfully so.

The narrative around Marquise Brown has begun to change over the last month, however. To put it simply, Brown has hit a hot streak at the perfect time for the Ravens. Through the final six games of the year, Brown reeled in six touchdowns and 338-yards on 26 receptions. There were some spectacular highlights along the way, too, including perhaps the biggest play of the Ravens season. Brown was everything Baltimore needed and more and began to prove his doubters wrong.

Brown stayed humble throughout all of this, however, never boasting on Twitter about how he was right to demand targets. No, Brown has stayed quiet and let his play do the talking.

Many were wondering whether or not Marquise Brown could maintain this play headed into a post-season that carried more weight than any before it. Brown became a focal point of this offense after all and the Ravens needed him to remain hot and carry the passing attack moving forward.

Thus far, Brown has maintained his success.

Against the Titans in the wildcard round of the playoffs, “Hollywood” brought in seven of nine targets for 109-yards. Keep in mind this is the same Titans team that blanked Brown earlier in the year. Brown was the biggest reason Baltimore had any success through the air and made the offense click. Brown was perhaps the most important offensive player not named Lamar Jackson on Sunday and was a huge reason for the team’s first playoff win since the 2014 season.

To see Marquise Brown take his hot streak to end the regular season into the post-season is huge for the Ravens. It was detrimental that this happened and thus far he’s delivered. Without a shadow of a doubt, Brown has reclaimed his nickname and then some.

The Baltimore Ravens will be betting on Marquise Brown to keep that hot streak going against the Buffalo Bills this weekend and potentially beyond that. If he does, Baltimore has a good shot to win it all with “Hollywood” Brown being a huge part of that success.
