5 Ravens who improved the most during the 2021 season
By Justin Fried
3. Mark Andrews, TE, Ravens
Mark Andrews was the best tight end in the NFL in 2021. Already considered to be ‘one of the best,’ Andrews took his game to a new level this season and established himself as the premier player at his position.
The 26-year-old finished with a career-high 107 catches for 1,361 yards and nine touchdowns pacing all NFL tight ends in each category. He was a man possessed in 2021, and this production came in spite of the Ravens’ offense taking an overall step back.
Jackson’s injury could have hindered Andrews’ production. Instead, he managed to forge chemistry with Huntley and become his go-to target before long. That’s just the type of player he was this year.
Andrews was officially named first-team All-Pro after his incredible season, and it’s safe to say that he’s earned every penny of that shiny new four-year, $56 million extension he signed in September.
Putting Andrews on this list almost seems a little silly seeing as he was already widely considered to be a top-five tight end in football going into the year.
But there’s a significant difference between being top-five and top-one. Step aside Travis Kelce, there’s a new king of the tight ends.
Mark Andrews has claimed his throne.
