The Baltimore Ravens will face one of the hottest teams in football in Week 5. The Atlanta Falcons have turned an embarrassing 0-2 start into an exciting two-week stretch where their offense has been simply unstoppable.
On defense, Baltimore has to find a rhythm. They’ve flashed, but they haven’t put together a truly dominant four-quarter performance. If they slip up at all on Sunday, the Falcons will take advantage.
Here are three Ravens defenders who must hold up their end of the bargain to slow down Atlanta’s offense.
3 Ravens defenders who will be key to stopping the Atlanta Falcons
Kyle Hamilton
Kyle Hamilton will be on a list like this every single time.
It doesn’t matter if he’s facing a pass-heavy or run-heavy offense. It doesn’t matter if it’s the 2013 Denver Broncos or 2007 New England Patriots on the other side. Hamilton will always hold the key to locking things down. He’s an alien.
Hamilton could be the equalizer to limit Atlanta’s offense. Bijan Robinson and Drake London can do ground-breaking damage on any given down. We know Hamilton’s an All-Pro, but he needs to play one of the best games of his career on Sunday.
Against the run, Hamilton’s anticipation and quick trigger make him extremely difficult to block. Against the pass, the three-time Pro Bowler can blitz as well as any defensive back, and his coverage skills and reach make any throwing window hard to come by.
Jesse Minter must unleash Hamilton to his fullest potential.
Trenton Simpson
When it comes to sideline-to-sideline speed, Trenton Simpson is among the best players the Ravens have in pursuit. Closing off angles, firing through blocks, Simpson has played at a different level, and his efforts will be critical to keeping an explosive Falcons unit somewhat quiet.
Bijan Robinson is inevitable. He's going to hit the second level several times in this one. No matter how hard Baltimore’s defensive line tries, Robinson will take his fair share of carries upfield for chunk gains. Simpson will play a massive part in ensuring those 5- to 7-yard gains don’t turn into 10+ yard gains.
Simpson isn’t any old regular linebacker either. He brings that Kyle Hamilton-like versatility, just in a linebacker’s mold. The Clemson product has taken major strides in pass coverage and run defense in 2026, and he looks much more comfortable with his feel for the game. And as always, he’s been a very good pass rusher.
Those traits need to be on full display against an offense in an absolute rhythm taking the field opposite the Ravens.
Tavius Robinson
Baltimore’s discipline has to be better. Miles better. Notably, their inability to consistently contain scramble drills and set the edge has been the defense’s downfall. With how much Tavius Robinson plays, a lot of pressure falls on him to fix that.
Tavius is a versatile outside linebacker. He got off to a hot start this year, making a statement as a pass rusher in the first two weeks and fulfilling his duties against the run. He’s hit a cold stretch since.
While Baltimore would love to see that pass-rush production resurface in Week 5, his edge setting and run defense will be more important.
Bijan Robinson is the king of cutting back, making guys miss, and gashing defenses. If he gets into the open field, look out. He has an outstanding blend of speed and elusiveness that makes him a touchdown just waiting to happen. Forcing him inside doesn’t exactly create a guaranteed stop, but it’ll make him more containable.
Tavius might be the go-to guy for that. He’s not the flashiest player on defense, but he does the dirty work up front. He’ll have to set the edge, maintain leverage, and keep those cutback lanes closed in Atlanta.
