Aeneas Peebles could be on the verge of truly launching his Ravens career

2025 was a forgotten year for Aeneas Peebles. He couldn’t crack the Baltimore Ravens defensive line rotation, only appearing in six games and totaling 71 defensive snaps. Luckily, things are looking up for him.

It all starts with John Harbaugh’s departure and Jesse Minter’s arrival. Minter is a defensive mastermind who will use all his players to the best of their abilities. As a dynamic interior pass rusher, Peebles should be one of those guys he lets loose.

And this preseason, Peebles is taking massive strides. His lightning-quick get-off remains a huge threat, but his play strength looks much-improved. In Baltimore’s preseason win over the Minnesota Vikings, he put it all together, registering four pressures.

By the looks of it, Peebles might be cleared for takeoff.

Baltimore Ravens need to let Aeneas Peebles loose in 2026

This could be the real beginning to Aeneas Peebles’ Ravens career. There was a ton of excitement about what he could bring in his rookie campaign, but he didn’t get that chance to shine. This year should be different.

The Ravens placed a heavy emphasis on bolstering their defensive front this offseason, more specifically their pass rush. They won’t be content with another abysmal 30-sack season. Adding Trey Hendrickson, Zion Young, and Calais Campbell will help, and unleashing Peebles could bring a little extra jolt to a talented room.

Peebles’ biggest strength is undoubtedly his ability to make interior offensive lines uncomfortable and collapse the pocket. While his 6-foot frame makes him undersized, he added weight this offseason, and his burst, speed, and motor haven’t taken a hit. He can be really dangerous if used correctly.

Jesse Minter knows that. Following Saturday’s preseason victory, he spoke highly of the 2025 sixth-round pick’s development.

“[Peebles] has got some playmaking instincts, got some ability,” Minter said. “Whenever we move and things like that, he’s really effective.”

It’s Peebles’ movement skills that make him difficult to predict and open up the possibilities for Baltimore's defensive line when he’s on the field.

That’s the exact kind of praise you want to hear if you’re a player in Peebles’ position, too. While he has exciting traits, he did next to nothing last season, and with a new coaching staff leading the way, he had some fresh faces to impress. Even in a deep defensive line room, it sounds like he’s had no problem doing that.

After this offseason, you could make the case for Peebles being on the roster bubble. It doesn’t look like that anymore. Sure, he’s buried on the depth chart behind Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, Calais Campbell, and John Jenkins, but there’s a real case that on pass-rush downs he’s one of the first options to turn to off the bench.

Ample opportunities may not be awaiting Peebles. He still has work to do if he wants to be a consistent part of the rotation. However, he’s clearly on an upward trend, and if he keeps generating pressure at the rate he is, Minter won’t be able to keep him off the field.
