The Baltimore Ravens have entered where they have one of the more dangerous passing attacks in the NFL. For a team that historically has not had great wide receivers, they have an underrated duo in Pro Bowler Zay Flowers and newly extended Rashod Bateman. The team signed DeAndre Hopkins this past offseason, who is impressing in camp.
Baltimore has the best tight-end duo, with Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely. Throw in Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell as pass catchers out of the backfield, and Baltimore’s air attack is a force to be reckoned with. However, much of the media is still not all the way in on the Ravens’ receiving group.
Trevor Sikkema of Pro Football Focus ranked the best-receiving groups in the league. In the article, Baltimore was listed outside the top 10 as the 12th-best receiving corps among all NFL teams. After such a strong season through the air, this feels disrespectful.
Baltimore Ravens disrespected by 12th place ranking
The Ravens were the seventh-best passing offense in the league last year. They finished with 4,035 yards and it was quarterback Lamar Jackson’s best season. It was his first time with over 4,000 passing yards, and he threw for 41 touchdowns and just four interceptions. It was also the best receiving corps he has ever had by far.
Flowers earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2024 and is already proving to be one of the best young weapons in the game. Bateman finally had his breakout season, hauling in 756 yards and nine touchdowns, which was good enough to get a payday this offseason. The two receivers are a couple of the best route runners in the game, and Hopkins can add a physical element on jump balls that Baltimore has not had in a while. The production does not stop there, though.
Between Andrews and Likely at tight end, no better duo can dominate in the red zone as they can. While Andrews had a down year yardage-wise, he remained one of the most lethal threats in the end zone with 11 touchdown receptions in 2024. Likely had six of his own and was a dynamic target at the catch point and after the catch. The room gets deeper with Charlie Kolar, who has not gotten much playing time but has flashed in his moments on the field.
At running back, speedsters Hill and Mitchell are dangerous with the ball in their hands. Both have proven that when they get the ball out in space, they are a pain to bring down. The two provide Jackson with another option on passing downs and showcase the depth of the receiving corps.
According to Sikkema and PFF, the Ravens had an 88.2 receiving grade last year, which was second in the league. 12th feels extremely low, especially with so many weapons in the team’s arsenal. The Ravens are nearly unstoppable on offense, and the passing game is just reaching the surface of what it could become.
