The Baltimore Ravens gave Lamar Jackson a ton of help in the 2026 NFL Draft. Their first-round pick of Vega Ioane brings a much-desired protector on the interior, and their later selections of Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt beefed up the wide receiver core.
Still, for all the hype those guys are getting, they are unproven. They have high ceilings, but they have yet to prove they can be game-changers in 2026. That’s especially true for the duo of Lane and Sarratt, who were later-round picks (third and fourth-round picks, respectively).
And the fact that Lane and Sarratt are unproven could open the door for a trade on the wide receiver front. Maybe Buffalo Bills wideout Josh Palmer could make sense?
Baltimore Ravens could be in mix to swing a trade for under-the-radar WR
That’s exactly what Anthony Palacios said in an article for Last Word on Sports. In a recent piece, he explored three possible fits for Josh Palmer, and the Ravens were among those listed. Palacios wrote:
“Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens might have to add another veteran to help Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman again. The team drafted Ja’Kobi Lane, who could easily turn into the future of this fast-paced offense, but he’s going to go through growing pains. Joshua Palmer won’t be Odell Beckham or Nelson Agholor like the Ravens had before, but the offense would benefit from Palmer as a reliable slot receiver.”
Palmer wouldn’t be much of an impact weapon by any means. Over the course of his career, he hasn’t been much more than a solid rotational option. However, he's at least he’s proven he can make plays when his number is called. That could prove to be beneficial for Baltimore’s offense, as the likes of Lane and Sarratt develop.
There's also a case to be made that giving Lane and Sarratt the playing time will be more beneficial to their development, though, and that’s probably the right line of thinking. If the trade candidate were more of a game-changer than Palmer is, then maybe, just maybe, the Ravens would entertain making a move, but they need to play it out with their rookies. There might be something there, and with their size, it may not take long to prove it.
Baltimore may not even have room for Palmer anyway. Heading into offseason activities, it seems like their six wide receivers are set in stone. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Devontez Walker are currently listed as the starters, per the team's depth chart on ESPN, and Lane, Sarratt, and La’Johntay Wester are almost certainly going to fill in behind them. Unless one of those guys is shockingly traded or released, then Palmer doesn’t have a spot on the roster.
So while sure, it’d be nice to get another piece in the wide receiver room like Palmer, there just isn’t any space for him. The Ravens need to let Walker, Lane, and Sarratt shine.
