The Baltimore Ravens had some key players missing from practice this week. As they head into a critical divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns, they will have their stars ready to go, but some starters and key depth pieces will be out of action.

Head Coach John Harbaugh already confirmed that starting cornerback Marlon Humphrey will not play on Sunday, and backup linebacker and special teamer Jay Higgins will be out for at least a few weeks. However, the list goes far beyond that.

Wide receiver Rashod Bateman did not practice all week as he nurses an ankle injury and will be out. Backup running back Justice Hill only practiced on Friday due to a toe injury and will also be out. Rookie outside linebacker Mike Green was on and off the field throughout the last couple of days and is questionable.

Ravens will rely heavily on depth on Sunday

The Ravens have dealt with worse injury problems earlier in the season. The slew of wounds they sustained in their Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs undoubtedly contributed to their early-season troubles. They were without their star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, for three weeks, and fought through his absence in their Week 8 win over the Chicago Bears.

The point is, Baltimore has been through far worse, and while the team will be without valuable contributors on Sunday, they have the depth to withstand the potential losses.

Humphrey is the biggest loss, but veteran corner Chidobe Awuzie, versatile safety Kyle Hamilton, and undrafted rookie Keyon Martin should do just fine in his place. The Ravens should also have a replacement ready and waiting for Higgins on special teams.

With Bateman out against the Browns, some wideouts will be able to take over. DeAndre Hopkins will likely see an increased role, and second-year pro Devontez Walker is set to be active for the first time since Week 5. Walker has not gotten much of an opportunity, but he has proven that when reps come, he can make plays.

Hill returned on Friday after missing Wednesday and Thursday, but will not play in Cleveland. That puts dynamic back Keaton Mitchell in line for a bigger workload, as he continues to carve out a more substantial role with the Ravens in 2025.

Green’s injury could draw major concern depending on his status in the coming days. He is finally adjusting to the professional level, tallying 1.5 sacks over the last three games. The trio of him, Kyle Van Noy, and Dre’Mont Jones could be fairly effective in the second half, but if Green cannot go on Sunday, Baltimore will rely on a shallow outside linebacker room of Van Noy, Jones, and David Ojabo.

These injuries should not be too severe, though, and many should be back at 100 percent for Baltimore’s Week 12 matchup with the New York Jets.
