The Baltimore Ravens are going to lose a ton of contributors this offseason. On Monday, legal tampering did its first bit of damage, as edge rusher Dre’Mont Jones plans to sign with the New England Patriots.

Jones is set for a nice payday. He agreed to terms with the Patriots on a three-year deal worth $39 million. He joins a New England team on a meteoric rise after making the Super Bowl in 2025. They needed pass rush help, and Jones can certainly bring that for head coach Mike Vrabel’s squad.

The Patriots have been a long-time rival of the Ravens. It feels like the two AFC foes have had countless instant-classic games over the years, meeting in the playoffs many times during the Tom Brady era. Now, under quarterback Drake Maye, they are back, and by adding Dre’Mont Jones, they could become an even bigger force on defense.

Baltimore Ravens expected to lose Dre’Mont Jones to the New England Patriots

Jones’ departure was expected. After acquiring edge rusher Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders, the Ravens have the top half of their pass rush room set. While they need some depth, they weren’t going to pay that money for Jones. Money is already getting tough, and bringing back Jones would never have made financial sense.

Jones was a productive piece in 2025. He tallied 4.5 sacks in nine games with the Tennessee Titans and was acquired by Baltimore ahead of the trade deadline. While he had just 2.5 sacks in nine games with the team, he was their best pass rusher, bringing pressure off the edge for a very lackluster pass rush group last season.

The Ravens could still use a little more help at outside linebacker. Unfortunately, it won’t be from Jones. At 29 years old, he still has a ton in the tank and should be ready to showcase that in New England.

Thankfully, Baltimore shouldn’t have to deal with him just yet, as the Ravens and Patriots aren’t slated to play in the 2026 regular season. However, there could be a playoff matchup in order.
