Ravens might watch a Ben Roethlisberger-sized nightmare unfold

This could get scary.

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a severely underwhelming season, but the playoff door remains wide open. In fact, the Ravens could reclaim their throne atop the AFC North in 2026.

There are people who don’t share that belief, though. Ben Roethlisberger is among them. While some see the Ravens as a team back on the rise, Big Ben revealed on his podcast, Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, that he believes they’re falling apart. On the other hand, he has the Steelers taking the division again.

Regardless of whether you think that’s a biased take from Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh will continue to be Baltimore’s top rival. And although quarterback is still a massive question mark for them, they might actually have their answer now.

Brendan Sorsby has applied for the Supplemental Draft, and he is likely all over the Steelers’ radar. That could be a nightmare for the Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens will hope to avoid this dangerous Pittsburgh Steelers possibility

Before we get too deep into things, it’s worth noting that Brendan Sorsby isn’t guaranteed to be in the supplemental draft pool. The NFL still has to approve his application, and while they more than likely will, his admission to gambling in college could lead to a suspension to kick off his career. There are a couple of mountains to scale before the Steelers can even draft him if they wanted to.

However, Pittsburgh appears to be one of the top, if not the top, landing spots for Sorsby. They’re obviously trotting out a 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers at quarterback this season, who is on the doorstep of retirement, and while they did draft Drew Allar in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Sorsby has gotten a ton of hype.

Over the past two years at Cincinnati, he threw for over 5,600 yards and 45 touchdowns, and added nearly 1,000 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. Clearly, the first-round buzz is real, and in the Supplemental Draft, there are rumors that he could command a second-round pick. If the Steelers were to forfeit that 2027 second-rounder and get their hands on the starting-caliber quarterback, they may finally have their first franchise guy since Ben Roethlisberger. That obviously wouldn’t be great news for the Ravens.

Of course, Sorsby shouldn’t be someone that the Ravens would have to worry about in 2026. Hopefully, they won’t have to worry about him at all, and the Steelers miss out on their chance to add him. He very well could be wearing the black and gold to start his pro career, though, and sure, he wouldn’t be an immediate starter, but he could end up making a significant impact in the future.

After striking out on Kenny Pickett and Justin Fields, and enduring mediocre veteran experiments with Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers, the idea of Baltimore’s most heated rival finally having a signal caller with loads of potential could be disappointing if you’re a Ravens fan. And if he adjusts well to the NFL level, it could quickly turn into a nightmare.
